hi everyone!!  robbie and i have some SUPER EXCITING NEWS to share with you all...we're proud to announce that we have a NEW BLOG & a totally re-vamped NEW WEBSITE!!  now, we know it's taken way too long, and you guys have been patiently waiting, but the wait is over AND we're SO STINKING excited for you all to see it!!!  so, make sure  you change your books, update your google reader, re-organize however and whatever...just make sure you CHECK IT OUT & STOP BY OFTEN!!  we have a some pretty fun people to introduce you all too and some pretty awesome images that we can't wait to share. : )

destination:vegas.

it's that time of year...where we pack up and head out west. where to you might ask? well LAS VEGAS of course!  i can't believe it, but it's been a year already and that means it's time for WPPI!  and we couldn't be MORE excited to get there, see some awesome friends, meet some new ones, laugh, learn, oh, the list just goes on and ON!  we're getting all of the last minute stuff (or crap as i'm now referring to it! LOL!) together and packed up, weighing our luggage (mine will be *close* but i think it'll be under 50lbs.!), and printing out boarding passes!  we've been so lucky and have made some really amazing & lifelong friends at this show, and really, what could be better?!?!  if you see us walking around, MAKE SURE YOU STOP and say "hi!" we'll be doing the same thing!!

SPEAKING of the SHOW...make sure you ALL take time to stop by gary fong's booth this year!  robbie will be there answering questions (and r. is pretty awesome with this stuff, he is EXCELLENT at explaining!) as you all know, gary has been such a pioneer in making great products for photographers, so swing by the booth and check it all out!  there is also going to be a HUGE giveaway this year at the booth, make sure to stop by the booth to get ALL the info and stay updated by clicking *HERE!!!!!*  trust me, you won't want to miss out on this!!!

AND...we're also going to be helping out at a few booths this year, so now you MUST come say "hi!"  we'll be hanging out on tuesday from 11am-12pm at the H20 | CREATIVE booth, #1001 with our awesome friends ben & laura harrison.  they just launched these amazing SEO tutorials & of course they're ROCKING InDesign album templates (which we LOVE!) so make sure you stop by to say "hi!" and check out both the tutorials & templates!

it's a lovely day for a birthday.

...happy birthday to handmade lovelies!  i can't believe it's been a year since i started crafting and creating these little gems : )  what started as a tiny, little fun "winter season project" to keep me busy has grown into something that i'm so very proud of!  and the best part, shipping them off all over the country (and canada!) and knowing that hopefully that little lovely is going to make someone smile : )

make sure you check out the store for the very lastest additions...from headbands to fascinators, from shoe lovelies to fun little pins and barrettes...i'll be adding NEW pieces SOON!  also, i've got some awesome new birdcage veils that i've been working on, you guys won't want to miss out on these!  and again, i'll be taking on a selected number of custom pieces as the wedding season begins, so if you're a bride (hi all you oFp. brides!) or know a bride that wants a super fun, super unique, one-of-a-kind handmade lovely *send them on over!*

through the wonderful world of Facebook, I've been able to reconnect with an old friend from high school. over the holidays i had a chance to catch up with mallory and work on some personal projects involving motion and strong lighting. mallory is an unassuming, dance phenom who now performs and instructs a myriad of styles in new york city. after spending an hour with her, it is apparent that she's not only developed into and amazingly talented dancer but also stayed grounded as the same person i knew long ago.

oh, we LOVED this wedding!!  jenny & brant chose a super stylish, retro old hollywood glamor theme for their november wedding...filled with fun touches and bits of whimsy, it was an event filled with great details!!  they were married at the amazing renaissance hotel, and our great friend darcie fromcircle city planners really out-did herself transforming the already pretty cool space into something so romantic and lovely.  the ceremony itself was also really different and totally unique, incorporating both jewish and christian traditions.  mix those things with great friends and family, you really can't go wrong!  jenny was really such a stunning bride, and brant was ever so handsome!

merry holidays from us.

hi friends!!  we wanted to first of all, wish everyone a very merry holidays!!  we hope that wherever you all are, that you're surrounded by lots of friends and tons of laughter!!  we wish everyone safe travels too!!  secondly, we wanted to share with you all our chirstmas card that we sent out this year...as many of you know, we have a recent addition to our family, homer chappelle, our puppy : )  we don't usually do "photo" cards, but this year, our little guy is just too cute not to share with everyone!!  sending you all tons of love and big hugs, from our little family to yours.

we tried to have him "sign" as many of the cards as we could...we only got about 20 out of him, and yes, there was green paint all over him, robbie and i, as well as our garage floor!!  we still have some green puppy prints in there...

Attached to the Gund Arena in Cleveland is giant mall called Tower City. It was there, prior to a Cavs game, that I purchased my first Bruce Springsteen album. I’m guessing this was circa 1995…I made my dad listen to it all the way home, which was a two hour car ride, and didn’t let up on that CD well into my college years; it’s wonder the thing still plays.

For over a year now, I’ve been negotiating to get the opportunity to photograph the Boss for the distinguished Backstreets Magazine, but things just haven’t lined up with our travel schedules. If there is one thing you’ll learn about me, is that I will find a way to do something I truly want to do. Photographing Bruce Springsteen, you could say, was on my Bucket List.

A couple of weeks ago, I got THE call.

Fittingly, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band were performing at the, newly renamed, Quicken Loans Arena; the same place where I bought my first album (some 15 years ago).

I’m one of those people who considers some music a “religious” experience. With songs like “The Rising”, “Working On A Dream”, and “Born To Run”, it’s impossible not to feel the magnitude and brilliance of Bruce Springsteen…live!

...lauren & brandon (who you may remember from their purdue e-session) are married!!  they picked an absolutely BEAUTIFUL late fall day to be "their" day.  lauren has a pretty keen eye for all things wedding and detail and along with her maid of honor they did an AMAZING job creating such fun little special touches.  we also got to work along our great friends darcie & jen of circle city planners who did an amazing job (as usual!) we also found a GEM of a background for some fun, impromptu group shots and a few fun images of just lauren & brandon.  a giant thank you to all the awesome friends and both families, you guys made the day even more special! and a BIG hug to both lauren & brandon, we're SO glad that we were able to be a part of your day!!

a recent addition to our family.

in a simple twist of fate, lauren, myself, and mark (lauren's brother) made an unplanned stop to say hello to some puppies about 8 weeks ago....and simply fell in love. we've always talked about having a dog (many, many imaginary dogs) but it has only always been a dream, until now. we'd like to introduce our white haired, freckle bellied, floppy eared, bundle of sweet puppiness, homer chappelle chapman-gantt. homer, or "skillet" as lauren prefers, is full a blooded boxer AND full time cuddle companion for lauren. if you've followed us on twitter or facebook, you've probably had a sneak preview of our boy, but here he is in all his puppyhood glory. at such an early age, he already has a tremendous personality and fits right into our slightly hectic, constantly traveling lifestyle. he's truly the sweetest thing to happen to us, and we're so happy to share him with you. enjoy! - r.

meeting my BOY for the first time!!  so tiny and wonderfully cute and fun...needless to say, pretty much love at first sight with this guy : )

with uncle mark.  i have to say that my brother has been a HUGE help in raising homer...even though he lives nearly 4 hours away, he comes to visit whenever he can and has been our "go to" dog sitter.  he's bonded pretty quickly with him and it makes me so happy that homer has made my relationship with my brother even more special than it is. we have also given mark all the credit in teaching homer to "fetch".  he even went to bring him home with us, you can see just how tiny he was.

oh, where to begin?!  tamra & ben hold a special place in our hearts because they, like us, have a love for boxer doggies (see below!)  we met up with these two right in the middle of all that nasty weather we'd been having, but strangely enough it stopped raining for their session, and when i say "stopped" i mean the weather cleared for about an hour and a half and then it started raining again!!  the colors were awesome with the leaves and we found some pretty cool spots just for these two.  we had a great time walking around the city, learning about this great couple, and hanging out with their great dog pete (who is about as well behaved as they come, and oh so cute)  tamra and ben are getting married next spring, and we can't wait, it's going to be a blast!!

oh, how we LOVE our couples!!  when i first talked to candice, she called me from italy!  yes, italy!  you see, both candice & brian are in the military and were stationed over there together (how romantic).  i always love talking to brides-to-be for the first time because they are SO EXCITED, candice being no exception : )  fast forward a few weeks, they're both safe and sound back in the states, but living in different parts of the country planning.  at first, i wasn't sure we'd be able to get a lifestyle session scheduled, but when candice emailed and said they'd be back in the area for a few days with some planning stuff, AND she said it'd be october (because, really, there is no better place to be than the mid-west in the fall, the colors are gorgeous) we were thrilled that we'd be able to get some fun images for them!  we met up in our favorite small town in ohio to spend some time getting to know them, laughing, and capturing who they are (the best part of our job).  candice and brian, you guys are GREAT, and we can't wait to spend your day with you guys! : )

meet lauren & mike...these two are why we love our job so much; genuine people with genuine love.  a funny little story about these two: they drove ALL THE WAY from baltimore, maryland for their session..yup, like an 8 hour road trip...i was REALLY nervous.  as soon as we all said "hi" and hugged, i KNEW their session was going to be special...oh yeah, after i told them to meet at us at starbucks that doesn't exist anymore (oops).  right away we all started laughing and talking, and it felt like we were just hanging out with old friends, which we KNOW these two will turn into : )  in fact, we're going to try to plan a trip to pittsburgh sometime soon!!

we're pleased to introduce AUDREY to the oFp. blog...audrey is the sister of one of our FAVORITE brides (who has also become a great friend) ashley.  i know i've said this before about this family, but i'll say it again, they are such genuine GREAT people, it's hard not to instantly fall in love with them!  the same is true about audrey.  she has such a HAPPY presence about her and her laugh is contagious!!  plus she's super cute and loves her uggs!!  we had a great time walking around and exploring awesome little spots to get some really fun images to capture who she really is!!  a big thank you to laurie (audreys awesome mom!) and to ashely (big sis) you guys ROCK and we love you! and a BIG giant thank you to audrey, thanks for allowing us to do what we do, document your awesomeness and have a great time doing so!! we wish you nothing but the very best!!

nicole & stephen are married!!  robbie and i traveled to a tiny town in indiana to photograph their wedding...they were married in a beautiful old church filled with tons of history, with tons of love from family & friends (we have the best jobs).  we found some fun spots too for their portraits (i DO love small towns for that very reason!)  lots of laughing and crazy dancing followed at the reception; and we gained two new friends!

ashley & james, two of the best people we know.

you may remember these two from their ridiculously fun, ridiculously silly lifestyle session we did with them...and in that post, i wrote just how silly and fun they were.  i'm going to stand by that statement.  they were again FUN to the MAX.  the best thing for us is that during the process of this whole thing, we not only get to photograph people in love, but that we gain two friends in the end.  ashley & james have really become friends of ours, which makes us smile.  their families welcomed us with open arms (literally).  their friends gave us hugs (again, literally) and we've said more than once that this family "sure know how to make people feel special".

anyways...she came up to stay with us a few weeks ago, we went swimming, made some *lovelies*, made pizza & french fries for dinner, cupcakes for dessert, and had some waffles the next morning...yup that's right, we hosted  a sleepover (alison warned us there might be a few tears, but NONE were shed!).  she brought two teddy bears and a whole "disney princess" suitcase full of stuff...cute, huh?

...oh where do i even begin?!  let me make it easy and start from the beginning!!  we met up with these two *lovely* people (and their doggie!) for their e-session and from the first couple of minutes we were laughing like old friends!!  we had SO been looking forward to their wedding all summer and they chose an amazing little winery outside of cleveland for both the ceremony & reception, and it was the PERFECT choice...laid back, charming, fun, just like them : )  their families were awesome and so welcoming and silly (score for us!) and their friends were equally awesome (we're firm believers in the old saying about people who surround themselves with good people).

traveling circus and medicine show: the redux.

i think lauren has left out the part that our first date was a counting crows concert in college. every since then, the band has meant something very special to us. over the past couple of years we've and a very special opportunity to build a relationship with their representatives. fortunately, as ohioans, we had the pleasure of catching up to the tour one more time when they performed in cincinnati. i can't underscore enough how much we love these guys and appreciate the chance they've given us in photographing the shows. if you haven't checked their calendar, you should! the tour goes on into next month. the show is absolutely awesome!

this was actually my first time shooting the band. i've been a huge fan since 7th grade....so, i'll admit i was a little nervous but i think i got a grip just in time.

...this is jill & scott (aren't they cute?!)  we had such a great time walking around and laughing with them during their session...we met up with them in cincinnati and found some really great, fun spots to get some kick-butt images (it might be our new favorite place to shoot at it was THAT cool!)  they're both such laid back, totally in love, and so silly (which is our FAVORITE kind of couple!)  they're getting married in just a few weeks, and we can't wait!!

mary & sebastian.

hi everyone!!  we're a tad bit behind on posting...but that all changes today!!  stay tuned for a bunch of fun posts, another counting crows show, katie & jerry's wedding, jill & scott's e-session, danielle & tim's wedding and more!!

starting things off though are the fantastic mary & sebastian (who you may remember from their fun lifestyle session just a little while ago!)  they were married on a wonderfully sunny and warm day in june, surrounded by TONS of awesome friends & family at the beautiful conrad hotel in downtown indianapolis.  the entire event was so classic and fancy, and we LOVED being a part of such a happy day!!  we also got to work with the fabulous conrad events planner amanda (who we adore).  the flowers were amazing, mary's dress was amazing, sebastian was charming...so, our kind of wedding.
