happy day to my mom.

so...today is mothers day, and i have the great mom in the ENTIRE world.  i'm also lucky enough that i get to spend the day WITH her since i've been down here in mississippi helping them get all moved into their awesome new house...we've been going through a ton of stuff and we stumbled upon some fun  photographs and slides (my mom is an incredible photographer and took a ton of images when my brother and i were little). my mom said that this was her very most favorite image of the two of us, and i'd have to agree...i'm not sure where it was taken, but on the slide mount the date is june 1981 (yeah, i was like 6 months old) isn't my mom beautiful?!?!  happy  moms day to all the wonderful moms, grand-moms, aunts, sisters, cousins & friends everywhere, and a very special day to my grandma and to all of my aunts, i love you guys!! and enjoy your special day!!  and a very special moms day to my mom, the bestest mom in the whole wide world, i love to you the moon and all the way back.

we started off our wedding season with sarah & chris who you might remember from this post...we were SO excited to spend the day with them because we knew their whole day was going to be filled with SO MUCH LOVE!!  and let me tell you, they did not disappoint!!  every single moment of it was filled with happiness from not only the two of them but from their AWESOME family and AMAZING friends as well!!  sarah and chris, thank you SO much for letting us be a part of your day, we wish you all the love & happiness in the world!!  (oh and next time we're in town we're SO meeting for dinner at kona grill!!)

...we met up with cara & lee on a funky little street in indianapolis...i don't even know what to say about the two of them..they are two of the happiest, friendliest, goofiest, laugh out loud at themselves, most IN LOVE with each other people that we've ever met (i'm sure their friends and family know EXACTLY what i'm talking about!!)  we had such a great time photographing the two of them...i don't know that we've ever laughed MORE during a session!! THEY both have such great style (lee even busted out his chuck taylors!!) cara is so dang cute and lee is super smart (that's a little inside joke between cara and a friend, and i got in on it too!! all kidding aside, lee IS really smart!!) but no, they are just SO cute and happy, and being cute and happy makes the world a better place, don't you think so?!?!  i sure do!! they're planning a june wedding and we can't WAIT...YAY!!! ok, enough with my ramblings, there are a TON of images to look at...cara & lee, you guys are the BEST...big hugs to you both!!

a little oFp. spring cleaning.

...we're doing a little "spring cleaning" at openField. and we've decided it's time to let some equipment spread it's "wings" and fly away to a new home!!  on the table is our very gently used A+++ condition canon 20D body w/vertical grip.  now i say "gently used" because this 20D has been strictly used as my back-up camera and has had less than 3,000 frames/shutter actuations run through it.  this is a GREAT camera, in fact, i started shooting weddings with the 20D models and this camera would be the PERFECT fit for someone who is also in the market for a super reliable, super dependable, GREAT all-around camera as a main or a back-up camera!!  also included is the BG-E2 vertical grip, which makes fast shooting a SNAP!!  i have all of the original packaging & boxes for both the camera & grip along with ALL of the manuals and DVD's of info that came with it. it also comes with a battery magazine for the grip, so you're able to use AA batteries in the grip if you choose to.  also included is the canon body cap, and i'll even keep the side shooting strap on there for you, they're AWESOME if you've never used one, trust me, you'll love it!!  the only thing that isn't included is the battery; we figured no one would want a used battery anyways!!  like i mentioned this camera is in SUPER A+++  condition, no scratches or wear showing anywhere!! (and for anyone who knows how particular i am when it comes to storing my gear, you know i am a FREAK about keeping all of my gear SUPER clean...and if you don't know me, take my word, i keep my gear SUPER clean!!)  we're going to ask $725 for this set-up OR you can always email me if you're interested and give us your best offer!!

the great 2008 road-trip...east coast.

...we are SO excited to announce the "great 2008 openField photography. road-trip!!  during 2 weeks in september, robbie and i will be packing some PB&J sandwiches, loading up all of our gear and hitting the road for some SUPER FUN, HIGH ENERGY, LOADS of LAUGHTER lifestyle sessions!!  we'll be making at LEAST 3 stops along the way; richmond, virginia, northern-virginia/washington, d.c. area, and philadelphia, pa. if you don't see YOUR CITY or a CITY NEAR YOU...have no worries, EMAIL ME!!  if we get enough people who are interested, we'll add another stop!! 

here's the 411 on the trip...

when?  september 8th-20th

where?  starting out in richmond, va., then to northern virginia, finishing things up in philadelphia, pa.

what kind of sessions will be photographing?   SUPER fun children's personality sessions, SUPER hot lifestyle and lifestyle e-sessions, SUPER funky high-school senior lifestyle sessions, SUPER relaxed family lifestyle sessions, and anything else that makes you or us SMILE!!

investment?  $300 and includes 1-2 hours of photography at an outdoor location* of your choice...on-line viewing, ordering and proofing...35-45 images all of which will be hosted on a custom designed site for 1 month.  a reservation fee of $150 is required to hold the date and time for each session. *locations must be local to the city we're visiting!!

osp indy 08.

well hello everyone!!  while r. & i are still in vegas i wanted to remind everyone that the 2nd annual OSP indy mini-workshop & seminar is coming up...next week!!  that's right, it starts monday march 24th and goes thru wednesday the 26th and is going to be held downtown at the omni severin hotel...they have some really great photographers lined up this year, and it's such a great way for everyone to get together, catch-up on what's going on, talk a little shop, and more importantly, HAVE FUN!! the cost for this event is only $50, how great is that?!?!  it even includes the cost of 2 lunches, and lets be real people, who doesn't enjoy a FREE meal?!?!  the lacours and garrett nudd will be there showing us all a little of "how they do it" which is going to be so much fun, so make sure you're there to see it!!  and for those of you who aren't members of osp, don't worry, you can still come and partake in all of the fun!!  click *HERE* for all of the info, hope to see some new faces there!!!

vegas...here we come!!

we cannot tell you how EXCITED we are to be headed to las vegas on saturday (especially after the last post...snow = BIG frown face.)  the annual wedding and portrait photographers international (wppi) convention is all next week, and we are so stoked to spend that time reinvigorating ourselves and bringing back TONS of new ideas for all our of clients!!  this year has a super dynamic line-up of speakers and workshops...you should see our game plan/schedule of who we want to see and how we'll get there in time...it's CRAZY!!  we're normally forced to split-up and compare notes later on, but it's SO worth it!!  plus, wppi has an AMAZING trade show (we're convinced it's the BEST AROUND, it's crazy how big it is) which is something we're always excited about seeing...plus, it's great to meet up with our awesome vendors and finally put some faces to names!!  rumor even has it that our album company, leather craftsmen, is launching a new album, so we're also super excited to see what it's all about!!  during our "down-time" we'll also be helping out at our great friend gary fong's booth (#814)...he's launching the new CLEAR LIGHTSHPERE UNIVERSAL, as well as premiering his new book, "SNAPS". 

*on a side note i (robbie) was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of "SNAPS", and i have to say, it's a must read...it's a very sincere retrospect of his life in little short stories...i literally laughed out loud several times, and it definitely pulls on the heart strings as well.* SO, make sure you STOP BY and say "hi!!" to us, along with jess, missy, brian, janey, amy, lauren h., adam, tiffany, and of course gary...please use your elbows, and don't be shy (KIDDING about the elbows kids!! gary's booth is always INSANELY crowded and busy, but we love saying "hi!" so just give us a yell and we'll make some room for you!!!)  see everyone in a few days!!!!!!!!!

the big snow of 2008.

so for the past two days we haven't been able to leave the house due to the ENORMOUS snowstorm/blizzard that hit central ohio...it's always a little weird when it starts snowing, and it doesn't stop...for TWO DAYS!!  we got a TON of snow, and wind, and really cold weather...but last night it finally stopped...we decided this morning to be brave and try to get a few things done that had been put on hold...needless to say, it was an adventure!!  r. decided to go out yesterday too, he wanted to take a walk (no way, not me, i was warm and fine with sitting underneath my blanket reading the newest issue of us weekly).  since the roads still aren't that great, i think it's going to be another "stay inside" day, we did manage to get over to blockbuster and rent "gone baby gone" has anyone seen it??  stay warm, be safe if you have to go out, and have a great sunday!!!!!!

as I’m sure you know, yesterday was the ohio primary. naturally we’ve seen the concentration of all the political campaigns lately, so lauren and I have been paying close attention to what all the candidates hope to achieve for our country...one thing that rings true is it does not matter where you come from, the color of your skin, your socioeconomic background, or your gender…all that matters is that we come together and make a change...again, vote for whoever you want to vote for, but please take a few minutes here to be inspired...we were.

so it's official...we voted today!!  kind of crazy this is only my second time actually going to the polls and casting my vote in person, i usually have to vote absentee...anyways, so someone decided that we would get up REALLY early and go vote, before the lines got long ( yeah, so NOT my idea to get up early!! ) but regardless, we got up... we even went to the wrong polling place...oops!!...once we figured out where we were supposed to be, they gave us the ballots and a few short minutes later...our votes were counted!!

here a the choices for the "rustique leather" which is SUPER soft...from left to right the colors are:

rustique black, rustique brown, rustique rust, and rustique saddle

these are the colors for the "euro leather" which are JUST as soft as the "rustique"  from left to right:

euro red, euro black, euro ivory, euro terra cotta.

below are samples of the fabric covers...these feel like more of a suede, super soft...we're still waiting on some samples with these covers...i'll be sure to post images!!

of the top two rows i would HIGHLY recommend the "celedon natural" (top left) it's more of an olive/gray color, and in the second row the "solar yellow natural" (2nd row left) looks so fun for a lifestyle session.  the "apricot natural" (2nd row, 3rd from left) is also a good choice for both a lifestyle session OR a wedding.  the "mushroom natural" (2nd row, 4th from left) which is more of a earthy brown color, and the "tristan red natural" (2nd row, far right) is a good balance of red, not too punchy, not too dark...all of the fabric covers look great with black name imprinting too.

we met with emily & brian in chicago for their engagement sessions a few weeks back after the wedding we had on saturday...both r. and i were SO excited that they picked chicago to do the session at, even though they're getting married in bloomington, in at iu (which by the way, we can't WAIT for!!)  i think luck was on our side for their session, we were totally prepared for the cold, windy, "chicago" weather, but it ended up being nearly in the high 50's!!  they picked the lincoln park zoo to start things off, and what a great & fun location!!  they were totally game for some of our crazy ideas too, i mean, come on...when you're in a zoo, you have to act like the monkey's do, right??!!   emily & brian are so incredibly cute & fun and SO IN LOVE!!  after we were finished up in the zoo, we decided to walk around a bit and find some of that great charm that chicago has with it's fun little boutiques & shops, all of the great brick walls and fun little houses all side by side...we even had time to grab a bite to eat with them at one of their favorite resturants, the flat top grill...it was soYUMMY!!  a giant "THANK YOU!!!!" to emily & brian, you guys rock and we can't WAIT till may!!!  big hugs to you both!!!

so, we went to one of my FAVORITE restaurants, los mariachis...when we walked in the door, sitting waiting for us was none other than bobbi + mike!!!  i couldn't believe it!!!  she was sneaky all week and kept a secret from me!!!  it was a GREAT surprise!!  we had a YUMMY dinner and then came back to the house for some cake...thanks SO much you guys for making our dinner extra special!!!

for our first wedding of the 2008 season we drove to tuscola, illinois for the wedding of noemi & bradley...since we had never actually met before, we headed over to the church on friday night for the rehearsal just to introduce ourselves and meet everyone...we were instantly greeted with big smiles & hugs from their families, we knew it was going to be a great wedding!!  things started out on saturday at noemi's cousin's house, just her & a few of her bridesmaids, hanging out, getting their hair done, laughing and talking...there wasn't one ounce of stress anywhere to be found!!  noemi was so calm & relaxed, i think she was just ready to see bradley and get married!!  r. was with the boys and they to were having just as much fun, they even set-up a tv at the church and started playing guitar hero!!  they had a beautiful candlelit ceremony with some special touches, her grandfather was the officiator, such a sweet man...since bradley is in the military, a few of his friends were there and they had a "arch of steel", it was awesome!!  then it was off to PARTY at their reception, and let me tell you, this groups know how to have a good time!!  thanks so much noemi & bradley, and their families for letting us be a part of your day, you guys are awesome!!  i hope jamaica was a blast!!  wishing you both all the best!!

personalities from 2007.

...in 2007 we had the chance to photograph some of the cutest, funniest, most adorable kids...we love running around chasing them through the playground, listening to them tell "knock-knock" jokes, being silly, and showing us their smiles with all of their missing teeth...we really do have the BEST jobs!!  we want to give a big giant "thank you!!" to all of their parents for allowing us into their lives and letting us do what we do!!  we hope that 2008 brings us the opportunity to photograph even MORE fun kids!!

we'll start up again in the early springtime with personality sessions, and anyone who is interested can drop an email to me at: lauren@openFieldphotography.com ALSO, i've had a few requests from moms in the philadelphia area who are wanting us to come out that way and do some sessions...we're TOTALLY up for that, anyone who is out that way and wants to set something up, let me know!!  we'll also more than likely set-up some time in the northern virginia area, we've had such a great time out there both this past summer & fall, we're thinking sometime in june, maybe the 1st week, i'll keep everyone updated as it gets a little closer!!  BUT, if anyone else is interested in having us come to where YOU live, just let me know...if we get enough people interested, we'll travel anywhere!!
